One should never rush when putting on a corset.
Time and care should be taken to gently mold the figure. Proper adjustment
of the corset throws the body into correct poise and brings out the best
lines of the figure.
All corsets should be laced so there is a long loop on each side on the
waistline. This is called a pull loop and regulates the lacing both above
and below the waist.
Before putting on your corset, open it to the full length of the lacer
as show in Figure 1. Place the corset around the body as shown in Figure
2.

Stand in front of your mirror and fasten the front clasp at the middle
hook first, followed by the remaining hooks as shown in Figure 3. Next,
fasten the garters if they accompany your corset. Ensure the lacing is
directly at the center back and the corset is properly adjusted on the
body, particularly at the waistline as shown in Figure 4 and 5.
Grasp the pull loops at the waistline as shown in Figure
6, and give a firm pull. Commencing from the top, gradually take up the
slack lacing down to the waistline. Next, lace from the bottom of the
corset up to the waistline, pulling gently. A correctly laced corset will
show an even opening of about 1 ½” – never more than
2” wide. Tie the loops at the waist. Figure 7 and 8 illustrate a
properly adjusted corset. Figure 9 and 10 illustrate an improperly adjusted
corset.
Always remember to loosen the back laces before removing the corset.
